GEMS From Heaven
Many have thought they could duplicate God’s power in order to devalue His greatness and establish themselves as equal or greater. Some promote a false gospel and because of the many followers, they think that it is just as effective as God’s gospel found in the new covenant in Christ.
Here is the GEM: There is only one true God, there is no other God besides Him (Isa 44:6). In Exodus 7:11-12, Pharaoh’s wise men, sorcerers and magicians attempted to duplicate God’s power of the staff of Aaron turning into a serpent, their staffs were swallowed up by Aaron’s staff. Thus, anyone who challenges God and His power will always be met with defeat. Because the most formidable foe, death could not hold the Christ in the grave, we have hope and in this, we rejoice. Just as a King snake swallows up a Copperhead, so will the power of God do to death, giving us the victory.
But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. "O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
