GEMS From Heaven
Today, many of us try to use our so-called gut feelings to determine something to be right or wrong. Such determination most often will be based on our own hearing of what we want. So, if it agrees with my gut feeling and it is what I want to hear then it must be right. If it makes me upset or does not agree with what I want to hear, then it must be wrong. This is such a false and unreliable standard of determination.
Here is the GEM: Those who are followers of the word of God have the standard of God to determine what is right and wrong. We are warned by it of people who would promise freedom but will exploit or make merchandise of us. We are warned of those who would be false teachers leading us astray from truth if we follow them. We are also warned that there would be those who would fall away from truth, giving into those things that tickle their ears. So we are strongly encouraged to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Why? He will never fail; never lead us astray; never disappoint us. Our obedience to Him and His way will bring us to the eternal destination, heaven.
Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;
