We truly are blessed to be living in a country that affords us a lot of freedoms. The question is how we use those freedoms. Some use their freedoms to do generally good things while others use them to live wickedly. In essence, both situations give the appearance of freedom but in reality they are held captive by sin. So, what is true freedom?

Here is the GEM: true freedom is found in Christ, living and doing the will of God. The reality of the matter is that we are a slave to something or someone regardless of where we live. Being enslaved to the Lord but yet free from sin, we live a life that is about love, joy, peace and the hope of eternal salvation. The aim is to enlighten or silence those who are ignorant of God’s way of true freedom. So, let us live the life of true freedom no matter where we are.

For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.
