When we see the word name we usually see, and rightfully so, as to what someone is called. But along with that, “name” also indicates identity. We recognize and understand this importance when present identification for cashing our checks or to enter certain places.

Here is the GEM: The most important identity we can have is with our God who has created us all after His image and likeness. But our sin resulted in the loss of that identity of what He had in mind for us. However, His great love provided for us to regain that identity through the Christ.  When we obey His gospel, we regain our true identity. And that identity is, children of God, and then God is identified as our Father. So with whom do you identify?

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name
